Connected Voices Global Virtual Summit
Global Girl Project is running our first ever online global summit on November 14, which is open to both young people and adults from around the world who want to create the change they want to see in our world. This will be a full day event that will include keynote speakers, panel discussions, and small group work with a focus on leadership, the future of community development, and how to create a network of change.
We will also be launching our new book More Than One Voice: Changing our world starts with a girl, as an audiobook so you will be able to hear exerpts from these inspiring stories from around the world.
This is a fundraiser for Global Girl Project, in order to raise the money needed to continue our innovative Blended Learning Leadership Initiative in Afghanistan, Jordan, South Africa, Nigeria and Haiti, starting in January 2021.
Attend and meet people from all over our world who want to connect with others and find the solutions to some of our most challenging issues.
Our event includes three sessions, focusing on the theme of Connectedness. The session topics are driven by Global Girl Project's mission - "mobilising young women around the globe for social change through community development and action". More info on each session below:
Session one: Leadership.
In session one we will be talking about all things leadership. It includes a contribution from a graduate of GGP who will share her experiences of being a young community leader.
Session two: Mobilisation.
Our second session is all about taking action, and the amazing work of girls who are creating change through mobilisation. In this session, girls globally will have the opportunity to share their success stories and discuss tactics on how to mobilise your peers.
Session three: The Future of Community Development.
Our final session focuses on the upcoming challenges within community development, and how we make impactful change for a better future. This session is all about how we can do things differently, and motivate each other towards global change.
GGP’s Book Release!
We are pleased to announce the release of our book, “More Than One Voice: Changing our world starts with a girl” penned by the girls that we work with, in celebration of International Day of the Girl Child on October 11, 2020. The illustrated book for young adults features eight autobiographical stories narrated by scholars that GGP has worked with internationally to mobilize for social change through local community development and social action projects. All profits from book sales will be reinvested in GGP programs and go toward the girls they support.
Through our book, we aim to amplify the voices of young girls everywhere, turning the light on what it means to grow up as a girl child in developing countries, and how, when provided with the right leadership skills training, young girls can bring change to their own lives and those of others around them.
Listen to our Director talk about everything behind the book!
